Who we are

Contex is the controller of the personal data described here. You can contact us at legal@getcontex.io.

This policy covers the Contex website and the Contex closed beta.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the beta.

• Register interest form: your name, email, company, role, industry, region and anything you choose to tell us.
• Your account: your name, email address and an encrypted password, plus the organisations, teams and projects you belong to.
• Your content: what you create or upload in Contex, such as project briefs, documents and generated material.
• Usage and security records: sign-in events, AI usage counts, and the pages, features and errors we record while you use Contex. We do not record what you type or the content of your projects in these records. They are kept for 90 days.

How we use it

• To decide who gets access to the beta, and to contact you about it.
• To provide, secure and improve the service, including investigating bugs.
• To send emails about your account and the beta. We don't send marketing to people who haven't asked for it.

Legal bases

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on: your consent (for contacting you about the beta), performance of a contract (providing your account), and our legitimate interests (securing and improving the service).

AI processing

Contex uses third-party AI models. When you use an AI feature, the content needed for that request is sent to the AI provider listed below to generate a result. An organisation admin can turn AI features off for their organisation in settings.

We use OpenAI's API. Under OpenAI's API terms, content sent through the API is not used to train its models by default, and we ask OpenAI not to store completions for later retrieval. OpenAI may keep API requests for a limited period to detect abuse. We don't send your content to any AI provider other than the ones listed below.

Who we share data with

We use these providers to run Contex. We don't sell personal data.

• Convex: Database, file storage and application hosting.
• OpenAI: AI generation. Content you submit to AI features is sent to OpenAI to produce results.
• Resend: Sending account and notification emails.
• Pexels: Finding stock images for generated presentations. Only the image search terms are sent.
• Vercel: Hosting the website.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on an adequacy arrangement (such as the UK-US data bridge) or standard contractual clauses with the provider.

How long we keep it

We keep your account details and content while your account is open. When you delete a project or organisation, or ask us to close your account, we delete the content and account details, except records we need for security, billing and legal reasons. Sign-in, usage and error records are deleted after 90 days. Copies in provider backups are overwritten on the provider's normal backup cycle.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to withdraw consent at any time. Email legal@getcontex.io. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies. To understand how the beta is used, we record the pages you view, the features you use and any errors you hit, using our own systems and a temporary identifier that lasts as long as your browser tab.

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change, and tell beta users about significant changes by email.
